Diplomats Pessimistic About Iran Talks

Map of Iran (GRAPHIC)Diplomats in Geneva expressed skepticism on Thursday that their efforts to sign an agreement which would end the crisis over Iran’s renegade nuclear program would bear fruit. “The P5+1 remains entirely united in our proposal,” US State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said. “Our negotiators are making progress, but as we all know these issues are complicated and take time to hash out.” However, US Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid declared on Thursday that if the current round of negotiations don’t produce an agreement, he will support efforts to slap new, heavier sanctions on the Islamic Republic, a move which the Obama Administration has implored lawmakers to hold off on. Read More
