Thought of the day:
But He answered and said to the one who told Him, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?” And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.” Reference Matthew 12:48-50 NKJV
Jesus is told His Family is waiting outside for Him but He responds saying His Family are those who are doing His Father’s Will. Those who were hearing Him Teach were trying to distract Him. He had said that we should be willing to leave our families, essentially, to Follow Him. This shows a True Relationship with Him, that we are doing The Father’s Will, which basically, starts by following Jesus. The rest comes into play afterwards.
Why am I talking about this basic knowledge information that we all know and agree on? When we look around and we see other believers suffering and we help them, we’re doing The Father’s Will. We’re showing Jesus’s Love to each other, so that the world witnesses it. We’re showing that we are family to each other.
As in all families, there can be disfunction or even disagreements. What should make us different above other families, is that in God’s Family, we are to seek resolution, forgiveness, and repentance. We are as Paul wrote in Romans 12:18 “If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.” (NKJV).
It’s not always going to be easy, we still learn to stick together and we grow through the pains and trials together. We carry each other’s burdens and learn more about truly loving others. The payoff, in the long-term is huge.
Let’s grow together as a family and continue to carry each other’s burdens, it brings Joy to Our Heavenly Father.
