Thought Of The Day, “Love”, Men’s Daily Devotion

Thought of the day:

Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality. Romans 12:9-13 ESV

What a great reflection for today. In serving Our Lord, we need to have a love for each other that is sacrificial. We have to train ourselves how to not be so self-centered.

Did you see that in verse 10, Paul talked about competing against each other in love? It’s a good competition. It’s the idea that we try to love each other more than we are loved. Not so that it becomes a brawl, in a way that we learn to continually lift each other’s spirit.

Can you imagine how this world would be different if we all focused on loving each other more than others love us? What kind of changes do you think would happen in society? When we love others more, all other things go to the wayside.

It should help us to start focusing on the good in others and not the bad. This would bring change in others attitudes of themselves and others. We may see more people want to do good instead of retaliating.

Are you trying to outdo people in honoring them?

If we are to please God, we need to allow The Holy Spirit to set us apart. We need to pursue a sinless life. We are to seek Righteousness. How do we do it? Through prayer, study, fellowship, being willing to be corrected/accountability, discipleship, and service.  

It starts with Our Relationship with Jesus. If you don’t have a Relationship with Him or you need to rekindle that Relationship, do it now. Call out to Him and seek his Love and Forgiveness. It really is as hard or easy as you make it. We should look to Him daily to seek a relationship with Him. I want to encourage you to seek Him today, if you haven’t already.
