From Kathy Branzell of National Day of Prayer:

Friend —

Gratitude + Generosity = God’s Glory

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Proverbs 4:4-7 NASB

We pray that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day and that your “thanks-living” lasts well beyond your leftovers! We are blessed to have a God who comforts us and calls us to gladness, gratefulness, grace, gentleness and generosity. He does not want us to live in anxiousness but in His abundance as He assures us that He is near and invites us to come make our requests known to Him. Of course, God knows what we need before we even ask, but asking is part of our relationship. Asking denotes respect, relationship and the realization that we cannot accomplish anything on our own. Notice that our requests are wrapped in rejoicing; and we are anxious for nothing because every good thing comes from God.

Throughout the year the National Day of Prayer Leadership, Board of Directors and coordinators pray daily for God to guard, guide, and provide all that is needed for His will to be done. Shirley Dobson was always reminding us that, “Where God guides, He provides.” As we work throughout the year, we trust God and carefully steward every dollar that is donated to help us train, resource, coordinate and mobilize unified public prayer for America.

In this season of giving we want to take this opportunity to ask you to prayerfully consider giving a gift to the National Day of Prayer Task Force. We have not asked for a donation through our articles in the past six months and I assure you that our requests will be not be frequent, but timely, and based on our relationship with you. We deeply appreciate our donors letting us know how it blesses many of you to be a part of all that is being accomplished through NDP. Would you be willing to give a gift today? You can mail your gift to our office or donate by credit card on our website. We are thankful for every prayer, person and penny.

God blesses each of us in various ways, but always for His glory. He blesses us to bless Him and others as we steward all He has given to us. Proverbs 11:25 says, “The generous man will be prosperous, And he who waters will himself be watered.” We glorify God when we are generous with all that He has entrusted to us to further His Kingdom and share His gospel of grace. Even Jesus’ earthly ministry was blessed by the generosity of people. It is hard to picture being one of the people who helped to provide for the One who created everything, but we know they carried a money box and there were many women who followed and ministered to Him. I can hardly imagine it until I remember that we are getting to serve Him now.

We are so thankful for all that God has provided and enabled us to do this past year. We are excited to mobilize prayer across homes, workplaces, campuses, churches, to our military, government, and our entertainment and media. Our hearts beat for spiritual awakening and revival across America. Please partner with us as we, “Pray God’s glory across the earth!”

Serving Him with Gladness,

Kathy Branzell

President

About the National Day of Prayer

The National Day of Prayer tradition predates the founding of the United States of America, evidenced by the Continental Congress’ proclamation in 1775 setting aside a day of prayer. In 1952, Congress established an annual day of prayer and, in 1988, that law was amended, designating the National Day of Prayer as the first Thursday in May.
