“Praise God, from whom all blessings flow. Praise Him all creatures here below. Praise Him above, ye heavenly hosts. Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.”
I recently read an article by a young woman who pointed out the reality that most of us take the many blessings God has given us for granted. Few of us take time to smell the roses or appreciate the beauty of the world around us. She spoke mostly of the young people who are always in a hurry and unaware of the whys and wherefors of their existence. It is the job of us who know the truth to tell them.
The best way to teach is by example. When those of us in my age group were being raised we never had to wonder if there was a God…everybody seemed to know He was there. He was mentioned everyday at school and on the TV. Why did we ever allow Him to be pushed aside as if knowing Him didn’t matter?
It is time for those of us who know Him to stand up and be the example He hoped we’d be. Nobody should have reason to doubt that our God, Jesus Christ is alive today. We need to worship and praise Him every chance we get.
We are told in Psalm 66: Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands. 2 Sing forth the honor of his name: make his praise glorious. 3 Say unto God, How terrible (awesome) art thou in thy works! Through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee. 4 All the earth shall worship thee, and shall sing unto thee; they shall sing to thy name.
Let us pray as in Psalm 67: God be merciful unto us, and bless us; cause his face to shine upon us. 2 That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations. 3 Let the people praise thee, O God, let all the people praise thee.
Psalm 96: 1 O sing unto the Lord a new song: sing unto the Lord, all the earth. 2 Sing unto the Lord, bless His name; show forth his salvation from day to day. 3 Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people. 4 For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods. 5 For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the Lord made the heavens…8 Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name…
Let us appreciate the blessings He has given us and most importantly the freedoms we have to worship. as with many other things… if we don’t use it, we might lose it.
