Be imitators of God, therefore, as beloved children, and walk in love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant sacrificial offering to God.
Ephesians 5:1-2
Who do you imitate? Is there someone whose admirable qualities you emulate? Ephesians 5:1-2 says to, “Be imitators of God… just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant sacrificial offering.” If Jesus knew great pain and endured all things for our sakes, don’t you think it’s a good idea to imitate him? In our suffering, let’s be imitators of his endurance. Let us be imitators of his patience. Of his perseverance, and his kindness toward others in his own hardship. Of his glad willingness to submit to the Father’s terrible, yet wonderful will. Of his prayerfulness even in the midst of great affliction. Let us be imitators of Jesus’ abundance of trust in God without a hint of complaint. Today, follow the advice of Ephesians. Imitate Christ and you’ll be a fragrant sacrificial offering.
