“We have nowhere to hide but the jungle.”
Dewey, This quote from one of our local partners in Myanmar has stayed with me. Since Myanmar’s military staged a coup and took over the country in February, violence has continued. But in the last six weeks, the situation has intensified. And believers are fleeing into the jungle. Our local partner Brother Lwin* explains: “Wherever the military goes, they burn the houses, kill the pigs [which many families rely on for income], and occupy churches.” Thankfully, that’s not the only story our Myanmar partners are sharing. Against a backdrop of strife and violence, “God is working mightily,” Lwin says. |

Because of your prayers and gifts, our partners have been able to respond to the growing needs in Myanmar. Since September 2021, with your help, we’ve provided emergency aid to 17,135 believers.
In addition to offering practical assistance, Open Doors is working with area churches to provide discipleship training. This year, more than 500 people have given their lives to Jesus in Myanmar. “Even in the helplessness, God is still bringing people unto Himself,” Lwin says. I pray that as you read this story, you’ll see how God is using you to advance His Kingdom and raise up the future leaders of His Church in the world’s most dangerous places for our sisters and brothers. We are truly one Church, one Family. Best, Lindy Lowry |
