Kansas will become the first state to vote on a constitutional amendment about abortion on Aug. 2.
The vote comes a little more than a month after the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization that overturned Roe v. Wade, the 1973 landmark decision that legalized abortion nationwide, returning the issue to state legislatures.
Indiana’s legislature held a special session on Monday to debate a new bill that would completely ban abortion except in the case of rape, incest or danger to the mother’s life.
