Yesterday afternoon, Vice President Kamala Harris flew to Albuquerque and participated in a private fundraiser and a moderated discussion at the University of New Mexico. She expressed strong support for Governor Lujan Grisham in the upcoming November 8, 2022 mid-term elections and left no doubt that a vote for the governor would be a vote for on-demand abortion.
VP Harris spoke against limitations on abortion. According to the Albuquerque Journal, she asserted that the US Supreme Court’s striking down of the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision has caused widespread fear among women, and that “this is about freedom and liberty – fundamental principles on which our country was founded that are under attack right now…”.
During a subsequent 40-minute discussion on reproductive rights with Lujan Grisham, VP Harris accused anti-abortion advocates of hypocrisy and sought to portray abortion as a moral issue, saying that “[o]ne does not have to abandon their faith or their deeply-held beliefs to agree the government should not be making that decision for her.”

As Christians, supporting and encouraging the killing of our precious babies and the twisted attempts to equate abortion with right moral standing is wrong! Let’s remember that scripture says God created us in His image (Genesis 1:27); God formed your inward parts – knitting you together in your mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13); and that God made us and we are the sheep of His pasture (Psalm 100:3). We are not God and it is not for us to decide which babies live and which must die!
Let’s fervently pray that New Mexico’s citizens and our leaders will repent of this culture of death, which is abortion. Let’s pray for the fear (reverence) of God to permeate our lives and the lives of our elected officials. Let’s pray for God’s wisdom in our civil government, not the wisdom of man. Let’s pray that hearts of stone will soften, recognizing that every child is a gift from above. Let’s also pray for God’s will to be done in this mid-term election, as we give praise, with thankful hearts, to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
