REUTERS reports that a Greek passenger train collided head-on with a cargo train late yesterday (Tuesday) in Larissa, Greece, throwing entire carriages off the tracks and killing at least 36 people, many of them students.

A station master was arrested as investigators scoured the smouldering, mangled mass of steel and tried to understand why the two trains had been on the same track.

My brothers and sisters, there will be plenty of time for blame, but this horrific crash resulted in an immediate fire, killing and injuring scores of persons, with many burned beyond recognition.  The Greek government has already declared three days of national mourning.  Lord have mercy!
