Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires.

2 Peter 3:3

Scoff: to speak derisively; mock; jeer or doubt.

They scoff because they are “desiring their own lustful ways”, they want to continue living in this way and they don’t want to give up their evil desires and deeds.

They’re disobedient by nature.

They absolutely love to live in darkness. They love the secret things of the dark. They love to live life however they see fit, without any regard for Christ.

“In the last times there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.”

Jude 1:18

They literally scoff at Christ, the idea of the judgment of Christ, the return of Christ and anything to do with Messiah in any way, shape or form.

They scoff and mock anyone who follows Christ and scoff at those who live their life for him. Finding fault in anything relating to Christ, Christianity or scripture.

They deny the second coming of Christ, this makes them more comfortable practicing sin in broad daylight, all the while thinking that they wont give account to God for their sin.

 Scripture tells us otherwise:

“For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.”

Ecclesiastes 12:14

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”

2 Corinthians 5:10

You won’t give an account for your neighbor, family, or anyone that caused you to sin. You won’t give an account and blame someone else. You will however, give an account for your own life and actions, so the blame game will finally be over.

For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools.

Romans 1:21 & 22

And when you stand up to the scoffers, there will be great divide, but stand firm in Christ and he alone. And do not fear, no matter what! Even if you are standing alone.

Unfortunately, some families will fall apart, but we have to be obedient to Christ, first!

As a Christian, God will lay the truth in your heart. You will be blessed.

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers.

Psalm 1:1

There is no reason to be surprised that people scoff at the gospel. Peter says that in the last days “scoffers will come.” Peter gave us a warning about scoffers and said that they’re following their own evil desires.

They want to create God in their own image. They want to be free to do whatever they want to, without any remorse or ramifications for their action’s. To ‘get away with it,’ so to speak .

They want NO accountability for their actions.

If they acknowledged that Jesus Christ is Lord and that he’ll someday return in Judgment, they’d have to rethink the way they’re living their entire lives, but are unwilling to do so.

Therefore, they’ll habitually neglect the word of God or twist it.

We have to be aware of those who scoff around us, who deny the way of the cross, and subtly try to teach their nonsense.

They are not satisfied merely by rejecting God and the Bible, Some even go on a campaign against the things of God.

For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie.

and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

2 Thessalonians 2:9-12

Then there’s those who scoff and ridicule because they say we aren’t “tolerant” enough.  Meaning, we have to tolerate their sin or we’re treated differently and poorly, talked about and hated.

From the very beginning God did not tolerate sin. Adam and Eve, in the garden of Eden. From the git-go.

Of course, there are standards we are to meet, if we follow Christ.

We should respect others, especially as believers, but the one thing we cannot do is accept ungodly behavior in order to fit in and be loved and accepted.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Galatians 5:22-23

Be prepared through the Word of God, through prayer and do not be deceived.

Many Blessings,

Connie
