Know also that wisdom is like honey for you:
If you find it, there is a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.

Proverbs 24:14

Search for wisdom and understanding. As you’re searching for a buried treasure.

Most of us, if we knew there was a buried treasure in our backyard, we would leave no stone unturned searching for it. That’s how we should treat wisdom and understanding. Search for it, seek it out, find it. It’s going to be gold to us!

Look for wisdom like silver. Search for it like hidden treasure. If you do this, you will understand what it means to respect the Lord, and you will come to know God. The Lord is the source of wisdom; knowledge and understanding come from his mouth.

Proverbs 2:4-6

Wisdom is necessary for growth. It’s applying Gods truths in our lives. It’s not enough to just read it, we must apply it and use these tools we learn in scripture to guide us. A moral compass of sorts.

Many may think that you can find wisdom without knowing or finding God first. This type of wisdom is worldly wisdom and is self serving. It’s elevating yourself and not being humble. In fact, it’s not Godly at all.

“But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice”

James 3:14-16

Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.

Proverbs 3:7

The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.

Proverbs 4:7

Godly wisdom open our hearts to advise from Gods word. We’re told time and again in proverbs, to heed the council. This is wise.

Worldly wisdom will always lead to gratifying our own evil desires only elevating ourselves and scripture clearly tells us to lean not on our own understanding. We must acknowledge that and submit to God.

The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice.

Proverbs 12:15

We all have to make choices every day. Wisdom comes in when we make choices that are bettering our lives in Christ. Our choice is to either make decisions that are wise or unwise. There’s a clear outcome depending on which you choose. Trust me, I’ve done both.  And the consequences can be devastating.

How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver!

Proverbs 16:16

The one who gets wisdom loves life; the one who cherishes understanding will soon prosper.

Proverbs 19:8

In scripture we learn that Solomon discovered that wisdom ‘under the sun’, apart from God, left him unfulfilled and lacking.

But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.

James 3:17

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

James 1:5

For wisdom is better than jewels, and all that you may desire cannot compare with her. “I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion.

Proverbs 8:11-12

Wisdom can only come when you’re searching scripture with an open mind and a ready heart.

Many Blessings,

Connie
