NBC News reports today that US Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) has been indicted on federal bribery charges, according to documents filed today in a Manhattan federal court.
The indictment alleges that from 2018 through mid-2022, both Senator Menendez and his wife, Nadine, received “hundreds of thousands of dollars” in bribes, and used the senator’s influence to enrich three businessmen from New Jersey and benefit the Egyptian government.
The bribes allegedly received by the couple included cash, gold bars, payments toward a home mortgage, compensation for a low-or-no-show job, and a luxury vehicle – among other items.

The following is a YouTube video uploaded by NBC News summarizing the charges against Senator Menendez:
My brothers and sisters, corruption in government seems to abound these days. The Father expects us to walk in honesty, integrity and love! Absent this, we have exactly what we see nowadays.
There is a saying reportedly first stated by John Emerich Edward Dalberg-Acton (AKA: Lord Acton), an English Catholic historian, politician and writer who died in 1902, that “power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” A discussion regarding this quote may be read HERE.
If there was ever a reason to support the immediate implementation of term limits for elected governmental officials, this is a very good reason – as evidence often bears this quote out as truth.
Exodus 23:8 (NKJV)
“And you shall take no bribe, for a bribe blinds the discerning and perverts the words of the righteous.”
Proverbs 17:23 (NKJV)
“A wicked man accepts a bribe behind the back [t]o pervert the ways of justice.”
Praise Jesus forevermore!
