KOB 4 News reports that the City of Belen, New Mexico, cut the ribbon and officially opened a new Baby Box.
The Baby Box is temperature controlled and provides parents a place to safely and anonymously surrender their baby.
Belen becomes the fourth city in New Mexico to install a Baby Box, with others already available for use in Española, Hobbs and Carlsbad.

My brothers and sisters, although it’s unfortunate that any parent would be in a situation necessitating the giving away of a newborn, what a blessing it is that the baby will be kept safe and, presumably, provided a home with foster and/or adoptive parents.
Some scripture for consideration:
Psalm 139:13-16 (NLT)
“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank [Y]ou for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in [Y]our book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.”
Psalm 145:8 (NKJV)
“The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, [s]low to anger and great in mercy.”
Micah 7:18-19 (ESV)
God’s Steadfast Love and Compassion
“Who is a God like [Y]ou, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain [H]is anger forever, because [H]e delights in steadfast love. He will again have compassion on us; [H]e will tread our iniquities underfoot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.”
1 Peter 4:8 (NLT)
“Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.”
Praise Jesus forevermore!
