Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year! There is no better time to give praise, worship and honor to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. With all there is to be heartbroken about across the globe, we can take comfort in the peace and the love of Christ in our hearts. Jesus is always faithful! If you trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, the bible says that you are a child of God!
John 1:12 (NKJV)
“But as many as received Him [Jesus], to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name…”.
Luke 2:4-7 (NKJV)
“Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.”
Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV)
“For unto us a Child is born, [u]nto us a Son is given; [a]nd the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Starting today, and for the next 11 days until Christmas, I’ll update this article with a new video or two of some wonderful and/or worshipful Christmas-themed songs.
Starting things off is Chris Tomlin, a modern-day Christian music specialist at taking traditional carols and mixing them with fresh choruses and modern styles. One of my favorite ones is called Midnight Clear (Love Song) – an obvious adaptation of It Came Upon The Midnight Clear (a 1849 poem by Edmund Sears that is sometimes titled It Came Upon “A” Midnight Clear). The lyrics are on the video.
I hope you enjoy and might even sing along with Chris Tomlin’s Midnight Clear (Love Song):
And, for those of us who really enjoy the traditional approach, here is the one and only Frank Sinatra performing It Came Upon The Midnight Clear:
Here are the lyrics:
It came upon the midnight clear
That glorious song of old
From angels bending near the earth
To touch their harps of gold
Peace on the earth, goodwill to men
From heaven’s all gracious King
The world in solemn stillness lay
To hear the angels sing
Still through the cloven skies they come
With peaceful wings unfurled
And still their heavenly music floats
O’er all the weary world
Above its sad and lowly plains
They bend on hovering wing
And ever o’er its Babel sounds
The blessed angels sing
O ye beneath life’s crushing load
Whose forms are bending low
Who toil along the climbing way
With painful steps and slow
Look now, for glad and golden hours
Come swiftly on the wing
Oh, rest beside the weary road
And hear the angels sing
For lo! the days are hastening on
By prophets seen of old
When with the ever-circling years
Shall come the time foretold
When the new heaven and earth shall own
The Prince of Peace, their King
And the whole world send back the song
Which now the angels sing
May God richly bless you! Please come back to FGGAM’s website every day until Christmas for The 12 Days Of Christmas Songs “2023”.
Merry Christmas!
Praise Jesus forevermore!
