Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year!  There is no better time to worship and sing praises to our Savior, Jesus Christ.  With all there is to be heartbroken about across the globe, we can take comfort in the peace and the love of Christ in our hearts.  Jesus is always faithful!  Scripture tells us that God is love and that the Father loves us just like He loves Jesus!

In fact, if you trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, the bible says that you are a child of God!

Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV)
“For unto us a Child is born, [u]nto us a Son is given; [a]nd the government will be upon His shoulder.  And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

1 John 4:7-8 (NKJV)
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.  He who does not love does not know God, for God is love [emphasis mine].”

John 17:20-23 (NKJV)
Jesus Prays to the Father
“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.  And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one:  I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me [emphasis mine].”

John 1:12 (NKJV)
“But as many as received Him [Jesus], to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name…”.

FGGAM started this daily series of Christmas songs on December 14, 2023.  I’ll update this article with new Christmas music videos each day until Christmas!

The feature for today are two songs that are not specifically Christ-centered, but they evoke great love, Christmas memories, and they tend to touch our hearts every Christmas – and God is love, after all!

Getting us started on Day 4 is the one and only Bing Crosby singing I’ll Be Home For Christmas!  It was written by lyricist Kim Gannon and composer Walter Kent, and was first recorded in 1943 by Bing Crosby.  The song was written from the point of view of an overseas soldier during WWII writing a letter to his family.

I hope you enjoy and maybe even sing along with this original 1943 recording of Bing Crosby singing I’ll Be Home For Christmas:

Here are the lyrics:

I’m dreaming tonight of a place I love
Even more than I usually do
And although I know it’s a long road back
I promise you

I’ll be home for Christmas
You can count on me
Please have snow and mistletoe
And presents under the tree

Christmas Eve will find me
Where the love light gleams
I’ll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams

And, for those of us who grew up in the United States, we’ve all been touched by Charles M. Schulz’ A Charlie Brown Christmas – and of course, the outstanding jazz music recorded by the Vince Guraldi trio.

The last living member of the trio was its drummer, Jerry Granelli.  Sadly, Mr. Granelli died on July 20, 2021, but not before he recorded a live video for a Canadian Broadcasting Company (“CBC”) show in 2015.  The video shows the world how he approached playing for the trio and especially his iconic brush work on the snare drum.

I hope you enjoy Linus and Lucy, performed live on CBC in 2015:

May God richly bless you!  Please come back to FGGAM’s website every day until Christmas for The 12 Days Of Christmas Songs (2023).
