This makes me so very sad and upset. It reminds me that everything we do, say or emotion we evoke affects everyone around us (whether we realize it or not). We aren’t “islands” – so to speak. The federal government decides it’s time to sweep in, with justice on its side, but yet, there are leaders, like this sheriff, who may feel that he’s failed to protect his own, and rightly or wrongly, senses a responsibility for the 29 families of those about to lose their jobs – and whatever else might be about to happen. Father, please make a way where to us there seems no way, and bring comfort to the hurting and some good out of this situation, as only You can do. Touch the heart of man, that even as appropriate civil justice is served, MERCY mercy would not be forgotten. I ask this in Jesus’ name.
