PRAY OVER THIS

“But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

PONDER THIS

Suppose you’re on a cruise ship, and you fall overboard, and the ship goes on without you. Let’s say you’re about ten miles offshore. Most of us can’t swim that far. You’re out in the ocean and maybe you don’t know how to swim at all and up comes a man in a high-powered speedboat. He says, “Look, you’re drowning. Let me show you what to do.” And he jumps in the water and begins to do the backstroke and the breaststroke, and says, “This is what you do.” That man’s not a savior, he’s a teacher, and you’re probably going under.

Or suppose the man stays in the boat but begins to circle around you and tell you what to do and gives you instructions. He takes out a book and reads about swimming and safety. Again, you likely drown. You don’t need an example; you don’t need an instructor. You need to be brought into the boat! What you need is a Savior.

Jesus is the only Savior. Thank God for His example and thank God for His teaching and all the other wonderful things we have from Him, but we cannot forget He is the Savior. Salvation by grace is an amazing thing.
