Who Is Watching Over Your City?

Good morning beautiful people, good morning. Another day has come. As I awakened this morning, I began to think about what happened while I was sleeping. Did God answer our prayer that hurricane Helena be brought down low? Did the person without food, get something to keep them until the new day? I pondered the answer to all the issues we have going on in our towns and cities. I pondered once again this beautiful morning here in Maine, of where did some of God’s most beautiful people sleep. Life can be hard at times. I want to do my part, whatever that looks like today. How about you?

Let’s look at the words to the song Not Too Far From Here this morning and ask God what we could do today to help someone in need. Close your eyes, open your heart and let’s petition him for solutions for all these problems bigger than us in our towns, cities, and nation. Amen?

Not Too Far From Here (Ty Lacy/Steve Siler)

Somebody’s down to their last dime, Somebody’s running out of time, not too far from here. Somebody’s got nowhere else to go, somebody needs a little hope, not too far from here. I may not know their name, but I’m praying just the same. That you’ll use me Lord to wipe away a tear, Cause somebody’s crying. Not too far from here. Somebody’s troubled and confused, somebody’s got nothing left to lose. Not too far from here. Somebody’s forgotten how to trust. Somebody’s dying for love, not too far from here. It may be a stranger’s face, but I’m praying for Your grace. To move in me and take away the fear, cause somebody’s hurting. Not too far from here.
Help me, Lord, not to turn away from pain, help me not to rest while those around me weep. Give me Your strength and compassion, when somebody finds the road of life too steep. Now, I’m letting down my guard, and I’m opening my heart. Help me speak Your love to every needful ear. Jesus is waiting. Not too far from here, Jesus is waiting, not too far from here.

Let’s Pray:

Father, we come to you this morning and ask you for strategies for the issues in our town, cities and nation. Some folks believe in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. (Psalm 20:7)

Father, send us help from on high today as together we pray the Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. (Matthew 6:9-13)

Have a blessed day God’s most beautiful people. Be a blessing to someone today. Why? Because you can.
