Sharon and I met Amy in Laramie, Wyoming a year ago so on a Great Commission trip. Amy's family is growing. Glory to God! We love this family. We love sharing JESUS and carrying out The Great Commission. Here is what Amy wrote on Facebook: Today my little family received this bible in the mail. And I am so excited to get diving into it. So a little backstory on how I met Dewey and Sharon:
We were living in Laramie at the time. I was working at the Hilton as a housekeeper, and Dewey and Sharon were staying in the room across the hall that I was cleaning. We exchanged good mornings and how-are-yous.
Dewey later came back and said I was gifted this and I feel you should have it (it was a $100 bill). I didn’t want to take it because it was so much money. But Dewey insisted. He said you have to promise me one thing though – you don’t buy alcohol, drugs or cigarettes.
I talked about how I was in recovery and that I don’t smoke. I said I am getting married in a couple weeks, so it will be put to good use. I remember Dewey saying “I would marry you if I was still going to be here or closer to you.”
They checked out, so I went into their room and made sure nothing was left behind. Sharon had left her wedding ring on the bathroom counter, so I quickly went downstairs to find them. Luckily, they were walking their dog Daisy before they got on the road and I was able to return the ring to them.
Dewey and Sharon touched my heart in more ways than they know, and I knew I had to find them.
Now mind you, I had very little information about them. All I knew was first names, and that he was a pastor and where they lived. So, it was a little difficult at first to find them. But I did.
And it has truly been a blessing! They were out there that very day for a reason and I am extremely blessed to have met them. I continue to keep in touch with them on a regular basis.
