The Salvation Army is Aiding Flood Victims in Roswell and Chaves County

The Salvation Army began relief efforts at an American Red Cross-managed shelter at the Eastern New Mexico Fairgrounds in Roswell – providing 188 meals and drinks, 24 cleanup kits, financial assistance, and emotional and spiritual support – and will continue to serve as long as needed.

My father-in-law would always tell me that the Salvation Army was always first on the scene in WWII. He was always so very grateful. They sure do a good work here in New Mexico. Glory!

Sadly, these pictures of flood scenes are becoming for more common in New Mexico, that and wildfire scenes. We all must prepare and support each other. It is going to get worse.

ROSWELL, N.M. (Oct. 21, 2024) – The Salvation Army Roswell Corps Community Center (Roswell Corps) is providing relief to survivors of flash flooding in the area over the weekend.

 

“We had one of our people out in our Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) truck helping rescue people stranded in the middle of the street yesterday because their cars stalled out,” said Captain Mike Evans, Roswell Corps Officer.

 

The New Mexico National Guard has conducted over 300 rescues and there have been two reported fatalities.

 

Today, The Salvation Army began relief efforts at an American Red Cross-managed shelter at the Eastern New Mexico Fairgrounds in Roswell – providing 188 meals and drinks, 24 cleanup kits, financial assistance, and emotional and spiritual support – and will continue to serve as long as needed.
