Sharon and I support the Salvation Army! I always remember a World War II veteran telling me that the Salvation Army was always there for the soldiers!
CLOVIS, N.M. (Dec. 19, 2024) – The Salvation Army Clovis Community Center has received an early Christmas present.
“A generous donor gifted us a box of 20 Christmas cards, with each card containing a $100 bill,” said Clovis Corps Officer Captain David Shatto.
In the box was a letter that read, in part … it is hoped that the cards can be distributed in a manner that might allow just a few kids to have a slightly better Christmas than they otherwise might have had.
“The cards were so beautiful, as was the gesture,” added Shatto. “We are truly blessed!”
The gift is a great boost to Clovis’ holiday fundraising efforts, as its local Red Kettle Campaign is currently at 87 percent of its goal of $35,000 with less than a week remaining in the campaign.
Statewide, things are not as merry and bright, though trending up. The Red Kettle Campaign is currently at 67 percent of its goal to raise $570,000 across New Mexico.
There is still time to make a difference. In addition to donating at a Red Kettle at local storefronts, people can donate by:
- visiting SalvationArmyRedKettle.org.
- texting RedKettles to 51555.
- asking Alexa to, “Make a donation to The Salvation Army.”
- mailing or dropping off a check to your local Salvation Army.
Donations stay in your local community and provide life-changing local social services and programs throughout the year.
If you are unable to donate monetarily to the Red Kettle Campaign, you can donate your time. Volunteering to ring the bell at a Red Kettle for just two hours can raise enough money to feed 30 people.
