From Israel: Remembrance Day To Begin On Sunday

IDF Remembrance Day (IDF Spokesperson's Office)Sunday evening, Israel will pay respect to the memory of 23,169 casualties of war and terrorism who have fallen since 1860, the year the first Jewish neighborhood was built in Jerusalem outside the walls of the Old City and considered by many historians to be the beginning of the modern Jewish State of Israel. Events commemorating the Day of Remembrance for the Fallen Soldiers of Israel and Victims of Terrorism will be held in several venues throughout the Land, including 52 official military cemeteries. The Defense Ministry released statistics Friday saying 57 new names have been added to the casualty count since the last Day of Remembrance in 2013, with 50 disabled IDF veterans succumbing to their wounds.
