Socialist healthcare killing US veterans
As a very young boy, I remember going with my dad to visit veterans that he knew. They were the forgotten ones from World War I and II who had suffered mental issues, severed limbs, various health problems. Part of the discussion was that the government run hospitals were death traps and provided substandard care. I didn’t understand then what it was all about, but I knew my dad’s deep feeling that the government should be treating our veterans better. I just remember that visiting these men was a traumatic event. The place smelled bad, it was dirty, and the men were not well-kept. This is the forerunner to socialized medicine that is being forced upon all Americans today. And nothing much has changed.
As a senator on November 12, 2007, the occupant of the Oval Office said: “After seven years of an Administration that has stretched our military to the breaking point, ignored deplorable conditions at some VA hospitals, and neglected the planning and preparation necessary to care for our returning heroes, America’s veterans deserve a President who will fight for them not just when it’s easy or convenient, but every hour of every day for the next four years.” On July 23, 2012 he said, “For the first time ever, we’ve made military families and veterans a top priority not just at DOD, not just at the VA, but across the government.” Blaming Republicans for VA problems, he said, “Let’s stop playing politics with our military.”
This president has a way of stating facts and then acting as if he has nothing to do with what he is criticizing. Under his watch, however, a scandal of immense proportions has been uncovered. Long wait periods, sub-par treatment, reports of suicide of patients waiting for treatment and more. The president promised a two week or less waiting time, but it has been revealed that there were two lists–a secret list that held patients indefinately until a spot opened up on the two-week list. This officially and technically met the two-week wait promise, but in reality, patients were waiting long periods of time to receive poor treatment. Meantin, employees were receiving bonuses for saving money on health treatments.
Over 100 veterans have died while on waiting lists. It is deplorable that our veterans are treated this way. Under government mandated healthcare, someone other than you will decide whether you deserve care. This is shameful and inhumane. It is about control of the population and their votes. If you can control the lifeblood of a person through healthcare, you can get just about anything you want. That’s what a socialist democracy aims to do. Our vets are warning America about socialist healthcare by their first-hand experience. It’s killing them. What’s it going to do to you? This should be unsettling in every American’s spirit. As Peter and the Apostles said in Acts 5:29, “We ought to obey God rather than men.” An unjust law is no law at all. Socialist healthcare is unjust. Just ask a vet.
