I have to say that I interviewed Officer Rob DeBuck on my radio show years ago! What a class act!

A Commendation Letter for Officer Rob DeBuck:
Officer DeBuck was off-duty and had just completed a run up the La Luz Trail in the Sandia Mountains. As he approached the parking lot, he noticed a large group of people gathered around an elderly male who was laying on the ground . Upon closer observation, he noticed the elderly male as unconscious and turning blue.
None of the bystanders appeared to be administering any attempt at emergency medical aid so Officer DeBuck knelt down, checked and could not detect a pulse, and called out for someone to call 911 as he began to administer CPR .
The unconscious man was wearing a small backpack that was preventing Officer DeBuck from applying proper chest compressions. He called out again to the group of bystanders, pleading for assistance from someone in cutting the straps, but nobody from the crowd would assist. Officer DeBuck did not receive assistance until he identified himself as a police officer and insisted that someone step forward to assist him in cutting the straps of the backpack so he could remove it continue lifesaving CPR efforts.
After the pack was removed and Officer DeBuck continued chest compressions, the unconscious man gasped for air and began flailing around in an apparent state of shock. Officer DeBuck then laid on the ground next to the man, attempting to keep him calm and block the strong wind as they waited for emergency medical personnel to arrive.
The man was lucid, breathing, conscious and able to communicate by the time the ambulance arrived.
Officer Rob DeBuck has been nominated for the Life Saving Award for his actions.
Pastor Dewey note: I am thankful that I got the opportunity to meet Officer DeBuck years ago. Can you imagine none of the folks coming to the aid of the man? It appears the man would have died without Officer DeBucks heroic efforts and his insistence that someone help him in his efforts.
This past week one of our neighbors homes was burglarized. The Police Officer came to our house to see if we heard or saw anything. He was very kind. It got me thinking of all the Officers doing their daily duty and the Department under fire for the shootings. We must remember one or two or three or even a dozen more bad apples don’t spoil the whole bunch. The actions of Officer DeBuck should give us all hope and faith.
Let us pray for the Officers of APD everyday!
