The Israeli Air Forces are dropping leaflets over the Hamas controlled Gaza Strip warning them to evacuate prior to a ‘short and temporary’ operation. There is an expectation there will be a major operation of some sort but it is not known if a ground invasion would be included in that. There has been one very limited incursion by Israeli ground forces to destroy militant rocket launching sites in which four Israeli personnel were injured.
While Hamas militants have launched over 700 rockets into the Israeli civilian populated areas without any warning, this type of warning has become common for Israeli forces prior to any offensive actions in attempt to avoid civilian casualties but despite these warnings, many are refusing to evacuate the area being warned while being used as human shields which has resulted in approximately 150 deaths and over a thousand injuries although we have no break down of militant vs civilian numbers.
