Iraqi Prime Minister: “We Will Not Allow Foreign Troops On Our Soil”

IS terrorists (Illustrative)In another blow to the plans of US President Barak Obama to battle the Islamic State (IS, formally ISIS) terror militia, newly appointed Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Wednesday declared his utter rejection of the use of foreign troops on Iraqi soil. “Not only is it not necessary,” we don’t want them,” he said. “We won’t allow them. The only contribution the American forces or the international coalition is going to help us with is from the sky.” He went on to demand that the US-led coalition also attack IS in neighboring Syria in coordination with the Assad regime, saying otherwise the fight would go on endlessly. “We cannot afford to fight our neighbor, even if we disagree on many things,” al-Abadi said. “For us sovereignty of Syria is very important.” He also questioned the policy of not cooperating with Iran to fight IS.
