Turkish leader claims a conspiracy between Israel and his enemies
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s is coming under criticism from domestic opponents for bizarre claims that the Mossad, Israel’s intelligence agency, is promoting the cause of his main political opponent, the US-based Muslim cleric Fethullah Gülen. Claiming that, with the help of Mossad, Gülen’s agents recorded top secret meetings of Turkey’s security cabinet and gave the information to foreign governments to use against his administration, Erdogan rhetorically asked in a recent interview “If this is not treason then what is it?” His domestic political opponents have rejected these accusations and pointed out that the President has offered no proof to back them up.
