Dear Dewey,
On my way home from doing some errands this morning, I noticed people parked along the highway and as I went under Interstate 303 noticed that there were at least 20 motorcycle cops parked in the shade.  Not sure what I was witnessing, I headed home, about 4 miles North of Highway 60 in the outskirts of Surprise.  (Highway 60 is the road to Wickenburg and it connects with the road to Yarnell and Prescott.)  When I got home I turned on the TV and the news showed preparations happening along Highway 60 for the procession of 19 vans transporting the bodies of the fallen fire fighters to the Coroner in downtown Phoenix.  The procession had been announced about 30 minutes earlier and the news showed that the highway was lined with people all the way from the outskirts of Surprise to to downtown holding flags and their hands on their hearts.  It takes about 30 -45 minute to make the trip.  It was so sad to watch, but good to see folks showing their respect.  I hope they show some of this on the national news. Keep these families in your prayers!
Your friend,
Sonja Haldeman in Arizona
