The RIA-Novosti news agency reported on Monday that Russia has offered Iran a new deal for Antey-2500 air defense missiles, an upgraded version of the S-300 system Teheran has sought for years over fierce objections from Israel and the US. However, a senior Russian official said the deal has not yet been finalized. Meanwhile, talks in Geneva between Iran and the US over the Islamic Republic’s renegade nuclear program appear to be inching closer to a point where Iran will be allowed to retain as many as 6,500 uranium enrichment centrifuges despite longstanding policy, backed by UN Resolutions, meant to deprive Iran of enrichment capability. “The trajectory is worrying,” one Israeli official said. “In the beginning, the position of the world powers was that Iran should have no centrifuges…if we are now talking about thousands of centrifuges, it is clear that we are not discussing something symbolic but a vast industrial capacity which is ultimately very, very dangerous.” Read More
