Diaspora Jewish communities trying to enjoy the Passover holiday have been rudely interrupted this week with reminders that their presence is deeply resented by some of their neighbors. A Jewish community center in the US state of Colorado had to be evacuated Monday when a worker opened an envelope containing the threatening message that “you have enemies” along with white powder. The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office dispatched officers to the Center who tested the powder and determined that it was “benign” but said it had opened an investigation into the source of the letter. Meanwhile, a soccer match in Holland was interrupted this week by renegade fans at Galgenwaard Stadium in Utrecht, 40 miles southeast of Amsterdam, chanting “My father was in the commandos, my mother was in the SS, together they burned Jews cause Jews burn the best” and “Hamas, Hamas, Jews to the gas” to taunt the rival team.
