Egyptian security officials announced over the weekend that they had arrested terror operatives in the restive Sinai Peninsula who are affiliated with the Islamic State (IS, formally ISIS) terror militia in Syria. Dozens of other terrorists were reportedly arrested over the weekend throughout Egypt as clashes continued between terrorist groups and criminal gangs which killed and wounded several police officers and soldiers. Meanwhile, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi pledged in an interview published by the Kuwait News Agency on Saturday that Egypt will support the Sunni monarchies in the Persian Gulf.
