Violent Left Descends On Ferguson

During the violence last night in Ferguson, two things — one disturbing and one hopeful — became apparent. Nearly three dozen people were arrested, and it is clear that outsiders are streaming into Ferguson to perpetuate the violence and create chaos.

The Washington Post writes that many people have “arrived by bus and by car from Chicago, Detroit, Brooklyn and elsewhere.” A police official shared nearly 50 arrest reports and “a large number have addresses listed in Illinois or in Texas.”

“It’s like looting tourism,” an officer told the Post. “It’s like they are spending their gas money to come down here and steal.”

Who are these people?

We know the New Black Panthers are there. You may recall that members of this group were caught on tape trying to intimidate voters at a Philadelphia polling location in 2008. Attorney General Eric Holder, who is now leading the federal investigation into Michael Brown’s death, dismissed the charges against the Panthers.

Communists from the Revolution Club of Chicago are there. Radicals from the Occupy Wall Street movement are there. That particular movement, which many liberals hailed as a counter to the Tea Party movement, caused a lot of violence and vandalism a few years ago.

The cyber-hackers of Anonymous are there. Last week they crashed city computers in Ferguson attempting to identify the officer who shot Brown. They got it wrong, releasing a name of a manwho wasn’t even a member of the Ferguson police department. All of which shows the increasingly violent orientation of many on left.

The good news is that there are also reports of local black leaders and pastors involved in peaceful protests who were working with the police to confront the outside troublemakers. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that “some pastors in the street stood with their arms locked trying to restore peace.”

Another report indicated that one local pastor was calling out the thugs, yelling on a loudspeaker, “You are not from this community! Go away!”

Christians on both sides of the conflict are praying and that is a good thing. As I alluded to yesterday, if there was a lot more praying and less violence, Ferguson and America would be better off.

“ISIS Here”

America’s Islamofascist enemies are very adept at using mass media. ISIS is warning America in a new video that “we will drown all of you in blood.”

Propaganda is a key part of the terrorist playbook, spreading fear even when they can’t attack. For example, the Secret Service is investigating a tweet featuring a picture of the ISIS flag over the White House. The picture appears to have been taken from Pennsylvania Avenue and warns, “We are in your state, We are in your cities, We are in your streets, You are our goals anywhere.”

Last night in Ferguson, someone was walking around with a banner reading, “ISIS Here.” We know that there are growing numbers of young men from America and Europe who are fighting overseas with ISIS, becoming hardened combatants. And because they possess western passports they can travel relatively easily back to their home countries.

Thanks to our porous borders, there is little doubt that Hamas and Hezbollah operatives are in the United States. And thanks to our liberal immigration policy, the only thing we check for is whether an immigrant from a Muslim country is on any “watch lists” maintained by the Department of Homeland Security.

No effort is made to question or discern whether a person not on that list is bringing with them their hatred of Jews and Judeo-Christian civilization or whether they believe that the world should be governed by Islamic caliphate. It would be like the U.S. accepting the mass migration of Germans during the 1930s and only checking whether those coming in were Nazi party members and not asking if they were Nazi sympathizers.

We are also being warned about the danger from ISIS by Amel Shimoun Nona, the Chaldean Catholic archbishop of Mosul, Iraq. Like thousands of Christians, Archbishop Nona fled Mosul and is now seeking refuge in Erbil. During a recent interview, Archbishop Nona warned:

“Our sufferings today are the prelude of those that you, Europeans and Western Christians, will also suffer in the near future. …Your liberal and democratic principles are worth nothing here. You must consider again our reality in the Middle East, because you are welcoming in your countries an ever growing number of Muslims. …

“Islam does not say that all men are equal. Your values are not their values. If you do not understand this soon enough, you will become the victims of the enemy you have welcomed in your home.”

Is anyone in Washington listening?
