The IDF has taken the lead in preparing the country for next week’s Rosh Hashana holiday, distributing traditional foods to large bases as well as isolated posts where some soldiers will have to spend the holiday far from their families while they guard the borders of the Jewish State. The totals come to approximately 60 tons of meat and fish, 18 tons of turkey, 14 tons of chicken, over 100,000 shnitzels and 12 tons of barbeque meat as well as two tons of honey and 15 tons of apples. Other holiday favorites such as pomegranates, dried fruits and vegetables are also being made available along with eight tons of honey cake.
