Let us pray over this dire situation in New Mexico: When it comes to deaths in the U.S. caused by heavy drinking, New Mexico is leading the pack. That’s according to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
That report says 16.4 percent of deaths in New Mexico from 2006 to 2010 were alcohol-related.
That’s a rate of 51 per 100,000 people.
Almost all of the mountain-region states have alcohol related death rates higher than the national average of 9.8 percent.
