School Board Votes To Close Two Schools

Last evening, in spite of, or perhaps because of, much citizen input, the Moriarty-Edgewood School Board (MESB) voted to close Edgewood Elementary and Mountain View Elementary schools.  One board member, Audrey Jaramillo, voted against the closure.

At this point it doesn’t feel much like Merry Christmas.  It feels like a stick in the eye.

What is the next step or steps for the parents with children in the schools and the teachers and staff of both schools?  Maybe the MESB wins this battle, but the citizens affected will carry-on to reverse the closures … or not?

Whatever happens, it will not bode well for the school district, the parents, teachers, staff and citizens of Edgewood and parents, teachers and staff of children attending Mountain View Elementary.

Pray for everyone feeling the negative impact of this decision and pray for a reversal sooner rather than later.
