Sheriff Dan Houston: It’s Been A Great Privilege To Serve

I will always remember that dark October day in Albuquerque when that man went on the shooting rampage in Albuquerque and Deputy Robin Hopkins got shot. Deputy Robin suffered severe wounds. It was at this time I though that Sheriff Houston really brought calm to a dire situation. He helped bring the community together. He stood strong for us and stood by Deputy Robin, showing great leadership. Yesterday I talked with the Sheriff about his time as Sheriff and his love of serving the people of Bernalillo County New Mexico. Sheriff Houston ran a noble campaign and stood strong for his belief. Sheriff Houston released this statement after losing the Republican nomination for Sheriff.
It’s been a great privilege to serve as Sheriff of Bernalillo county. I will continue to serve the rest of my term and look forward to another chapter in my life with my family. To all those who supported me both financially and with your votes I sincerely thank you. I am proud of our campaign, however in a political office you have to be good with the fact that there is always a winner and loser. It was not my night to win and I accept that with no excuses and no blame game. God Bless and best wishes always, Dan Houston
