Good Morning Beautiful People

Oh how I laughed yesterday as I shared one of my wild faith stories with some friends. I guess my daughter is right, I must admit -my life is full of wild stories. I love it though, I love my journey with Jesus. I asked of the Lord many years ago, to move me beyond nominal Christianity and I think he has.

I can’t remember the exact year now but it’s been quite some time now. I used to watch people get healed on television programs. So I wanted to know if it was for real. I did what I usually do- inquire of the Lord myself. Except when I asked him about it, I sort of shared with him I’d like to go to one of these meetings for myself and inquired if he would set this up for me.

Since I didn’t have any money to go, I was told the money would need to come from heaven, and it did. I remember taking bags of clothes that me and my children weren’t wearing and dropping them off at a local clothing place that gave away clothing for free to people in need. When I came home there was a plain white long envelope on the counter with a note on the front that read from a couple who believes in you. Inside I found three twenty dollar bills and a ten.  So with seventy dollars in hand, I took it as a sign I was headed to the crusade in Worcester, Ma.

The next day I received a call from a lady I had never met before. She said she heard I was going to a crusade and if she could go as well, she would pay one hotel nights stay for everyone going. Of course you must sense the excitement I was feeling. By the time I left my van carried six of us off to discover what really happens at these meetings.

I filled my van with gas, bought a few snacks and had forty dollars for the trip. There’s something about me and forty dollar trips. I picked up another lady in the next town and she said to me Angel if you chew gum I’m supposed to pay for it. If you need tissues, I need to buy them for you. The Lord woke me up last night and told me to pay your expenses. She said listen, I don’t want to lose my blessing, so please let me do this. Since I only had forty dollars and since whomever made the hotel reservations made them at the Marriott there really wasn’t much to argue over. I thanked her and the Lord.

We arrive at the meeting early the next morning to stand in line for the 7Pm crusade. After all of these blessings, I began to complain to God that it was warm and I was worried I was going to sweat and what was I going to smell like with that navy blue suit I had on by 7Pm that night and it wasn’t even 10Am. I reminded him I had worn heels and it was a long time to be standing. I’m sure I am one of his hard cases, but he loves me anyway.

Somehow we got chatting with people in line and a lady said Oh don’t stay in a hotel your welcome to come stay at my townhouse all six of you. Sounded like a good idea and before I knew it I was cancelling the reservation for the hotel for that night. Some of our team stayed in line and endured the wait. Little did they know what God was doing setting up divine appointments. The home we stayed at, the dear woman a few years later would go thru a difficult time and was pregnant with twins. One of the ladies had stayed in contact with her that stood in line those many hours waiting for the crusade. She had written letters to the embassy of this woman’s country to inquire if this girls mother could come help her with the twins. Isn’t God Good?

A lady came and inquired of  us if we wanted to volunteer inside to prepare for the crusade. Inside where it’s air conditioned, I asked? I quickly told her to count me in. Some of our team stayed in line and endured the wait and I was ready to do whatever needed inside.

Over sixteen thousand people filled that auditorium. I had made arrangements with my brother to call him and meet him there. He lives in Connecticut and we don’t see each other too often. With all the excitement inside as I helped handicapped people get seated, I forgot all about my brother. Minutes before the meeting began, I remembered I was supposed to call him but my phone was in my purse on my seat. I pulled back the curtain on the level I was seating people and right before my eyes stood my brother. What’s the chances in sixteen thousand people?

Yes, people did get healed. No, not everyone. I saw people leave their wheelchairs, leave their oxygen tanks, etc. People in the section where I was seating folks were some that were healed too. One’s I had joined my faith with for healing.

From that day forward I knew healing was for real. I knew it was for today and although I don’t have all the answers, I believed in the healing power of Jesus Christ. Nobody layed hands on these folks, it was in the presence, the atmosphere of God’s glory.

A friend, a woman right from my hometown here in Maine was healed. She had driven down separately with her husband and some other close friends.  Oh, did we rejoice with her.  We were praying and believing for her. I love those precious memories. Yes, I have taken some static, been called a few names and been misunderstood at times. However, nothing cannot erase what I saw, what I was part of and what I experienced at those meetings. I thank God he heard and answered my prayer.

Yes, healing is for today. Ask him if you need it, it’s Ok. Don’t be afraid to talk to the creator of the universe. He loves you and he loves me even if we are some of his hard cases. One of my favorite Bible verses Psalm 107:20 He sent his Word and healeth thee. To God be all the glory…
