Last week I went to my daughters apartment to help as she is preparing to move. As I knocked on her door I began thinking about the little star hanging on the outside of her door. I just kept thinking about how gifted she is (although I don’t think she fully realizes it). I thought about how we sing that song at Christmas A Star Is Born. Immediately the scripture came to my mind in Genesis of how each of us is made in the image of Christ (Genesis 1:27). I chuckled and thought to myself, Everyone should have a star on their door.
We left to go talk with the manager of the new housing complex in which she is moving. As we entered the office a picture laying on a table grabbed for my attention. It was a picture of a hand and a star of light shining on those fingers. It really amazed me. I asked the housing manager about the picture as it just really caught my attention. He said I could have it as he was going to put it in the trash. He had found it in a closet and it was meaningless to him and the housing owner. He said it was one of the first pictures the owner had taken. I thanked him for the offer but declined it as I am really trying to simplify.
I dropped my daughter off at work and went about my day. I couldn’t get that picture out of my mind. I drove back and prayed he would still be there and inquired if the offer was still available. I asked him if he saw anything about the picture that impacted him. His reply was I’m not that deep. I kept thinking to myself this picture speaks to me about gifted hands. I thought there is a message from God himself to the person that took that picture. God’s blessing on the work of our hands.
Several years ago a friend gave me a picture of two Angels together with two wings. The picture read, We are, each of us, an Angel with only one wing, and we can fly only by embracing each other. How very true that is. Everyone of us are gifted with a special gift (talent) that we were born with from God. Some to discover it early in life and others later on the journey. If your not sure what your gift is ask the Holy Spirit to help you discover it and he certainly will. The world is in need of the gift you have been given.
Today choose to thank the Lord for blessing the work of your hands. Thank him for the gifts and talents he has given you. Choose today to take your life and make a difference in a world that is in dire need of it.
Hang the star on your door today and put one on the door of someone that may have lost their way.
Great post Angel girl! If we all used the talents the Lord gave us, imagine how unified and strong the Body would be. I love you and miss you. Xoxoxo Your very own hippie friend! Haha! Dawn
