Happy, Happy Mother’s Day…

This morning I sat quietly and reflected back over the years of being a mother. I remember when my first daughter was born Kaci Lynn, I was well past my due date but she came in the world just at the right moment. When she was in the sixth grade at the middle school here in Presque Isle, Maine she had a teacher that assigned them to make an autobiography. She proudly pasted her beautiful baby picture to a piece of pastel paper and wrote Joy filled the room that day and she was so right. I remembered the times of dressing her up pretty and going to the stores just to show her off even though I had no money to buy anything.

Two years later my middle daughter Alyssa Rae made her debut. I had a few complications with this pregnancy but all ended well. She came in the world  just beautiful with a mind of her own that challenged the Mother in me. Her new math in first grade went like this; one plus one is one. No counting apples and no trying to convince her otherwise, as it’s called The New Math Mom. I let her get it wrong many times and she finally found her way. I did tell you today she has an accounting degree didn’t I?

Two years later Brooke Geri arrived bald and beautiful after my doctor induced labor.  Her hair came in after a year or so and her beautiful brown eyes always sparkled . I remember her favorite words were No Fair as she was challenged to have her voice heard and to find her place with two older siblings. I remembered the big bow in her hair that was not supposed to be there at a Little Miss Pageant where I messed up the instructions that cost her several points.

I reflected this early morning on my limited memories of my own mother. Although she died when I was eight years of age,  I am honored she chose to give me life.  I know her life was strained as she raised such a large family. I love the picture I have of her in her glitzy suit as I am a woman that loves to wear things that sparkle. Everyone that knew her said she was the kindest woman they had ever met and that always makes me smile and proud she was my mother.

I reflected on my siblings that tried hard to keep me on a straight and narrow path. Wow, did you ever have your work cut out for you. Even I feel bad for you. Thank you hardly seems appropriate and enough. God saw every sacrifice you made on my behalf  as we journeyed  life together to find our place in this world.  Only he could repay such a sacrifice.

I thought about the spiritual mothers God had placed in my life throughout the years. Strong, strong  women of God that walked out the Word (Bible) before me. I would attend various women’s meetings, retreats, etc. at churches along with one of my favorite ministries Aglow International. I remember praying under my breath many times Lord someday I want to be a woman of God just like that and  I am still on that journey today. There are too many names to list here, but you know who you are. Holy Spirit show them.

I reflected on my times at the International School of Mentorship with Judy Jacobs. Wow, is she ever a power house. Thank you Pastor Judy for speaking in my life and helping me discover my call to the nations.

This morning I leave you with this: The greatest gift a Mother can give her children is to train them up in the ways of the Lord and to pray for them. So many times we want to give them all the material items this world has to offer and forget the importance of their eternal destiny. Today, may many make the decision to train up their child in the way they should go and when they are old they will not depart from it (Proverbs 22:6).

Happy Mother’s Day All Across this Globe Today. Thank you for choosing life.
